15th February
- Second day at Iguazu Falls visiting the Brazilian side of the National Park.
After yesterday, we didn’t think the views of the Iguazu
Falls could be any more spectacular, but we were not disappointed by our visit
to Brazil. We got picked up from the
hotel at 7.50 a.m. in a small mini bus which took a small group of 5 of us to
the Brazilian border. (The other people
in the group were people we had met the previous day, which was great). Our guide was very good at getting us quickly
through Argentinean customs/passport control, and then again through Brazilian
passport control, a short distance further along. (Fortunately, although we
needed passports, we didn’t need visas to enter Brazil). Once at the National Park, we boarded a bus
(top deck at the front for best views) which took us to where the long stretch
of spectacular falls began. We then
spent a couple of hours walking through the park and were just so impressed by
the scenery which was just stunning. As
you turned each corner a new set of falls would come into sight and each was as
beautiful as the one before. The sun
came out and once again we managed to see rainbows spanning the valleys. It was quite magical.
After our trip in the morning, we returned to the hotel and
then set off to explore the town. We
walked a few kilometres into the centre of the town to find a small cafe for
lunch. (More very large bottles of cold beer for Elwyn). We then set off to see the place where you
can view where the Iguazu River borders the three countries of Argentina,
Brazil and Paraguay. After a lovely walk
along the river back into the town, we headed back to the hotel where we
changed and collected our bags ready to be picked up and taken back to the airport. We flew out of Iguzu at 8.45 p.m. and after a
short flight (1hr 40mins) we arrived back in Buenos Aires for our overnight
stay before travelling onwards to Calafate.
